Walk ***** Christchurch Park circuit, Ipswich – sunny periods and light
showers.
Windsurf.
Hoped to make the most of the strongest wind and high water so headed to
Levington Marina early arriving at 7.45, there was actually a brief glimpse
of sunshine with a good onshore SW. As the tide was dropping, I did not
want to take a chance foiling as want to avoid hitting the bottom with my
new Slingshot fuselage so set up my F2 Xantos 295 with 7m and set off
looking for a gust. Sadly, the wind was very patchy not helped by the
passing squally rain showers which switched the wind to a different
direction! In the heaviest rain the wind really picked up and I had my best
run down towards Felixstowe docks, shame I could not see where I was going!
I had few good runs before the wind dropped as the rain continued to fall
and I hate sailing in the wet! I was not even tempted to switch to my foil
as the weather was so bad and the tide was dropping fast. Still at least I
got out, now my 6th consecutive day getting a 20-knot average for the last
5 of them! This was not my best idea ever, should have stayed in bed but at
least the hot shower was good! And I got home nice and early as the weather
started to improve.
Walk.
Mag and I then went and did our weekly big shop at Lidl, the first time I
have been shopping for over a year, just love that lockdown! Then I make a
roll and we set off to Ipswich, firstly to feed the squirrels in
Christchurch Park and secondly to visit my Dad. We manage to find a parking
spot close to the park and soon find the grey squirrels, in fact we have
never seen so many searching out the chestnuts and conkers for the winter
ahead! A while ago Mag bought a bag of fish food to feed the rudd on our
bike ride and a bag of peanuts which we brought today and never has a
couple of pounds been better spent! The Park is very pretty set in rolling
hills, Ipswich is very lucky to have several really great parks with the
Autumn colours making it even better, there was even a little sunshine
too:) We stopped in several places on our circuit of the park to feed the
squirrels with several taking the peanuts from our hands. Round the
circular pond with its fountain, past the wild life pond with its many
ducks before finding a nice quiet bench for lunch just as it started to
rain! We sheltered under some trees and were set upon by half a dozen
squirrels desperate for our peanuts and had great fun feeding them, got
some nice pics too. With the rain stopped we returned to the bench to
finish our yummy roll while feeding three more squirrels, everywhere you
looked they were running about – love them :) After a very enjoyable
stroll we headed to visit my Dad but there was no answer so we went to B &
M to stock with coal now it is getting colder.
Not sure about windsurfing tomorrow as it is supposed to start off light
but then heavy rain and strong winds are set to arrive in the afternoon so
might give tomorrow a miss???
